The summer is for learning! Broken Box Mime Theater (BKBX) invites folks of all backgrounds to join in exploring the audience's imagination as medium. From the perspective of BKBX's unique brand of mime based in a US-American narrative style, participants will spend the weekend learning about body language, basic mime technique, staging metaphor, efficiency in storytelling, and devised process. How can these concepts expand our artistry? Our curiosity? Our awareness of physical communication?
This intensive is open to students of all experience levels. Past students of BKBX welcome. Varied access needs welcome; please email us at brokenboxmime@gmail.com should you need an interpreter or any other accommodation, and/or note it in this form where instructed!
The two-day intensive will include:
Technique foundations, including establishing invisible objects and physical precision
Establishing environment, character, and relationship without words
Cinematic techniques onstage: transformations in Time, Scale, and Space
The body as storyteller: writing and staging wordless narratives as an ensemble
